February 16, 2002 - Nick has purchased a 43-foot offshore racing boat and will enter it in the American Power Boat Association's
2002 circuit with races in the United States and Canada. Nick explained the purchase saying, "One of the main reasons
I am getting into this is my father. It's a dream come true for him." Nick Racing will make its debut April 28 in Daytona
Beach.
February 16, 2002 - "Taylor" writes "According to the Jive Records Official site, the Backstreet
Boys will be presenting an award at the Grammy ceremony on February 27th. From Official Jive site: "Look for the boys

February 15, 2002 - Early recordings from Nick will be released on March 26 by Hip-O Records. The 14 track album will document
Nick's solo work from ages 9 to 13. The album is titled 'Nick Carter: Before The 'Boys' 1989-1993'. No word on whether Nick
is endorsing the release
February 12, 2002 - Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith of Teenmusic.com spoke with Aaron Carter who revealed he and his brother
Nick will collaborate on an upcoming album. Aaron said of that and his brother's contribution on his per-view special 'Aaron
Carter's Valentine Party', "We should be recording together soon. It was great. My brother and I sang together on the
previous tour but we'd never done an actual special."
February 12, 2002 - Metal Sludge spoke with porn star
Kendra Jade about her sexual history with boybands and while not naming names (she did call O-Town 'sweet boys' and called
Justin a hottie), Kendra revealed, "Hmm, well I refuse to comment on this because my sex life would dry up real quick
!!! I'll just say boybands are worse than rock bands in every good way imaginable and rock bands WISH they had it like that."
As for her thoughts on the girls, Kendra said of Britney, "I am jealous of her abs." For Christina, she said, "Lollipop
head syndrome."
February 12, 2002 - The Backstreet Boys were nominated for Best-selling album, foreign or domestic
with 'Black and Blue' while Canada's own Nelly Furtado got two nominations for this year's Juno Awards. The awards will be
held pril 14 at Mile One Stadium in St. John's and hosted by the Barenaked Ladies.
Feb 1,2002- Nick has agreed to enter a pretrial intervention program that will allow him to avoid jail and any criminal record
for getting into a spat with a Tampa police officer at a nightclub last month.
"He is a first-time offender, and
we treated him just like anyone else," Assistant State Attorney Pam Bondi said Friday.
Police handcuffed Carter,
22, on Jan 2, saying he refused to stop arguing with a woman and leave Pop City, a video arcade and nightclub in downtown
Tampa.
As the club was closing about 3:00 AM poice ordered Nick 10
times to leave but he wouldn't, authorities said.
Police did not say what Carter and the unidentified woman were arguing about.
Nick only calmed down when an officer handcuffed
him and put him in the back of a police car.
As we all heard after this Nick saying "I did nothing wrong" the
cops think other wise. Nick has also been saying he believes his "celebrity motivated" the officers to arrest him.Police,
however, said they didn't know who Carter was. The same police officers approved the pretrial intervention deal, Bondi said.
Nick was charged with resisting or opposing a law enforcement officer without violence, a misdemeanor. If convicted,
the internationally known sex symbol could have faced a year in jail and probation.
But rather than go to trial and risk
a criminal record, Nick agreed to enter a pretrial intervention program, which is similar to probation. He will pay a fine,
perform community service and serve a period of probation.
Bondi didn't know Friday how long it would take for Carter
to complete the program. She also didn't know the the number of hours of community service Carter will complete. She did has
how ever found that his fine will be more than $5000.
The State Attorney's Office often offers first-time offenders the
chance to keep their records clean by completing pretrial programs. If Carter finishes the program, prosecutors will drop
the charges.
"He made a stupid decision that night," Bondi said.
January 28,2002- Nick will be partying it up tonight in his LA home with friends and family for his big 22nd birthday. All
members of BSB are listed to be at the party and also members of *NSYNC, YoungStown,, Krystal, Fred Durst and many more.
January 20, 2002 - Alice Cooper and AJ are paired up for this weekend's Bob Hope Chrysler Classic golf tournament at Indian
Wells. The elder Cooper has been giving advise about his own battle with alcoholism to AJ and the BSB singer has appreciated
it telling the Desert Sun, "We had a couple of really good conversations. Hes a really big inspiration to maintain sobriety.
My life today is a hell of a lot better."
January 19, 2002 - One of the few members of the Carter family that doesn't sing, Bobbie Jean Carter, 20, has been arrested,
according to WENN. Bobbie faces drug charges after crashing a BMW car in a late-night, high-speed police chase in Marathon
Key, Florida. Carter, who also is on probation, broke her ankle in the crash.
January 19, 2002 - A fan of the Backstreet Boys and apparently a huge fan of AJ posted the details of her meeting with the
singer at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic on Friday. BSBgirl11984 said AJ "better stick to singing. Golfing isn't his strong
point. The poor boy hit more trees then a monkey swings on in a lifetime." She added, "I still am so glad that I
got to meet AJ, and truly stare at him for about seven hours straight. And he was standing right next to us... and he talked
to us."
January 17, 2002 - Kevin and *NSYNC's Lance Bass were among approximately 100 celebrities and everyday heroes that carried
the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic torch as it made its way through downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday.
January 14, 2001 - AJ's drug and sexual habits are on full display as one of his ex-girlfriends at the height of his binging
has told all to Hustler magazine. Casey recounted the time when AJ was supposed to be seeing his dying grandmother as she
revealed, "He'd fly into Florida from the tour to go see her. I'm not saying that he didn't love his grandmother-he really
did love her. They were very close, but I don't think he knew how to deal with her illness, or maybe he didn't want to deal
with it. When I'd come over, he would only be interested in going out to strip clubs, getting @#%$ up and doing blow. He'd

January 13, 2002 - The big three tabloids Star, Globe, and National Enquirer all have stories on the arrest of Nick in their
current issues. Globe's story is titled, 'Backstreet Boy Lets It All Hang Out' (reference to his reported exposing of his
privates), Star's headline is 'Backstreet Boy told: Get into rehab', while the Enquirer leads with 'Backstreet Boy Spinning
Out Of Control'.
January 12, 2002 - Star magazine reports AJ and fiance Sarah were spotted splitting an order of french fries at Jerry's Deli
in Westwood. Fans flocked around the Backstreet Boy star but Sarah didn't seem to mind.
January 12, 2002 - US Weekly
reports a police spokesperson said Nick had a blood-alcohol level of .10 (they said 1.0, but he would be dead in that case),
which is above the .08 level for the state of Florida. They add contrary to reports, Nick never exposed himself in the club.
The mag also has a photo of Nick flashing a peace sign just before his arrest.
January 10, 2001 - Nick and Kevin presented the Favorite Country Album award at Wednesday's American Music Awards where they
shamelessly plugged the first person on their new label, Krytal Harris. In a somewhat 'cheesy' moment, she wailed, "A

January 7, 2002 - Apparently local television broadcast Nick singing the National Anthem but fans elsewhere hoping to see
it on ESPN were left unhappy as they just showed pregame coverage.
January 6, 2002 - Nick was supposed to be singing the "National Anthem" for the Bucs vs Eagles NFL game tonight
at Tampa Stadium - game starts at 8:30pm ET and is being broadcast on ESPN. Nick may still be singing but if he doesn't it's
because he is trying to keep a low profile after the arrest.
Jan 5,2002- Nick responds to the media, About his arrest.
"I didn't think the media would jump all over this like
they did. Justin Timberlake was arrested a few months ago and no one knew about it, but when a Backstreet Boy gets arrested
every damn person in the world knows about it, that's bullshit. I didn't do anything wrong, so why's everyone treating me
like I did?"

Nick was arrested last night
in POP City!!!!! Some1 heard on 933 a local radio station said that last night Nick and his friends were down in POP City,
a local club area and the were getting really rowdy so the bouncers kicked him and his friends out and then let the guys back
in or something I don't know, well the cops got called cause Nick wouldn't leave and then the cops said if you leave you know
we won't arrest you well Nick obviously put up some huge fuss or what have you. Well, Nick didn't leave, so they hand cuffed
him and put him in the car but later let him go.

Jan 4,2002- Ok, Here it goes....
Nick was arrested, But it was only a misdemeanor charge. He refused to be arrested so
they took him in. People who saw the arrest say "Nick was in tears, he didn't do anything wrong, he kept repeating 'all
you want to do is arrest a backstreet boy. I have a clean record, I didn't do anything wrong please don't do this' he broke
out in tears and people were making fun of him." Nick got out on a $15,000 bail and has a court date on March 4,2002.

"I saw Nick in a club, he was drinking. His friend was in
the restroom barfing all over the place and they sent security in after him, they tryed to take his friend in for nothing
so Nick jumped in telling them what was going on then Nick got into a heated argument with a women who worked at the club,
then cops showed up and tryed taking Nick and he was telling them he didn't do anything. As they put cuffs around his wrests
Nick began to cry and begging them not to take him to jail, But they did anyway."

Backstreet Boy Nick Carter was arrested in Tampa, Florida, early
Wednesday morning for refusing to heed police officers' orders to leave a nightclub following a fight.
Carter, 21, was
charged with a misdemeanor count of resisting/opposing a law enforcement officer without violence and was released on his
own recognizance, according to a police spokesperson. The offense carries a sentence of up to one year in jail and a $500
fine.
The singer, meanwhile, believes his celebrity status prompted the arrest and that his name will be cleared, a Jive
Records spokesperson said.
Police were summoned to Pop City nightclub earlier in the evening to investigate a fight, and
they returned to the club at 3:20 a.m. to break up a second, unrelated disturbance. As the officers arrested five patrons
responsible for the ruckus, they observed Carter, a resident of nearby Marathon, involved in a loud argument with an unidentified
woman.
Police said that when they instructed him to quiet down more than 10 times and he refused, the youngest of the
five Backstreet Boys was given an ultimatum to "leave by the count of three." When time ran out and Carter was still
there, he was handcuffed, placed in a police car and arrested. The unidentified woman was not.
A spokesperson at
Pop City had no comment.
Carter is scheduled to answer the charges in court March 4.

was arrested in POP City Tuesday night. HB&BSB joked, "anybody got pics? That's what i REALLY need to see...Nick

district of Tampa Tuesday night for loitering. Eyewitness accounts describe Nick flashing people early in the night, and then

December 22, 2001 - Howie called into Orlando radio station WXXL 106.7 FM earlier this week and was confronted with reports
that bandmate A.J. and an ex-girlfriend were going to be appearing in Hustler. Howie responded by laughing about it and saying,
"Honestly, I dont know, I swear to God thats the first time I heard about that, and I think Ill have to give AJ a call,

hike. He and Kristy were also spotted dining on stuffed prawns at the Broadway Grill. Spencer Fairbanks, manager of the restaurant
told Godden, "I took Kevin his dessert. He told me about his father (who died of cancer last year) and I told him about
my mother, a breast-cancer survivor."
December 6, 2001 - Craig Seymour of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution followed up on reports by Jeannette Walls that the Backstreet
Boys are again subject to breakup rumors. But according to their spokeswoman, Marcee Rondan, the group is doing fine having
just returned from touring in Japan. She says they do plan on taking the holidays off as they do every year.
December 1, 2001 - Pink revealed on the Howard Stern show Friday that during the 9-11 benefit concert at RFK (What More Can
I Give), she and the BSB went to the event by train but were on opposite ends of the train. When she tried to get them to
sign a guitar that was being auctioned off to benefit families of the terror victims, she only managed to get Kevin and Howie
to sign the guitar. Pink was pissed off that AJ , Nick , and Brian wouldn't sign the guitar as the groups handlers said they
were too tired. Pink shouted that 8,000 people who died that day were sleeping forever. Pink then said she forged their names
on the guitar so this may be news to whomever won the ebay auction. Pink and BSB don't appear to be good friends anymore.

the Lexington, Kentucky, airport, Kevin avoided screaming young fans from his hometown.
November 7, 2001 - WENN reports top American psychic, Dikki-Jo Mullen is predicting BSB will split up later this month careers
on their own, with Brian and Nick singing solo, Howie will do stand-up comedy and Kevin will hit the lecture circuit. As for
A.J., Mullen says his solo singing attempt will fail, leaving him wishing the group never broke up.
November 2, 2001 - BSB are suing their former manager, Donna Wright, claiming she refused to cancel their tour despite Brians
need for heart surgery. Also in the allegations are reports she took them to clubs to drink while they were underage and that
she had drunken sex romps instead of doing her job. BSB seek $910,000 in the suit, which is scheduled to begin late 2002.
November 1, 2001 - WENN talked to Howie who admits wherever the group is, a tribute group awaits, "There's always a BSB
tribute group wherever we go! It doesn't matter if we're in Asia, Canada, Spain -- they must buy every magazine and see all
our interviews 'cause they're always complete replicas of us."
October 30, 2001 - USA Today talked to AJ and Kevin following AJ's trouble with substance abuse which caused their tour to
be sidelined. AJ admits, "I only dabbled in cocaine alcohol was the main problem. I was drinking at 9 in the morning
having a shot of Jack (Daniel's) to get me going. I became distant from all my loved ones. I was seeing a shrink, but it
wasn't helping."
October 30, 2001 -'An Unknown person' reports AJ is beating his chemical dependancy by the support of new girlfriend Sarah
Martin whom he met at a karaoke bar. McLean, who is living with Martin, says "I thank God every day."
October 28, 2001 - News of the World's Rav Singh had good things to say about the recently concluded US leg of the Backstreet
Boys tour. Rav said, "The lads have come a long way since I first met them in 1997. Their shows have just got better
and better, and the sets are out of this world with futuristic outfits that most designers can only dream of."
October 28, 2001 - US Weekly reports rumors are swirling that the Backstreet Boys are on the verge of breaking up. An unnamed
music executive told them, "Each of the members wants to do a solo ablum." Also figuring in the mix is the inability
to get a hit off Black & Blue, combine that with dates the group had to cancel because of A.J.'s substance abuse, and
further cancellations due to poor ticket sales, leaves a combination that could spell doom for the group, though they've all
gone on record saying otherwise planning to record a new album next February

China Club. The females looking on couldn't agree who was best at busting a move.
October 27, 2001 - A.J. McLean's ex-girlfriend Amanda Latone told her comments on their breakup and how she feels now that
A.J. is getting help for his addictions. Amanda admits, "It was really, really hard for me. I don't drink, I don't smoke,
I don't party. I don't go to clubs ... That's all he did." But following A.J.'s rehab, Latone says she sees the difference
in him, "It's almost like he's more reserved. It's almost like he's calmer."
October 24, 2001 - MTV talked to Kevin about the groups work on a new album beginning next February. Kevin says, "We
want to go more organic with the production - live drums, live bass, acoustic guitars."
October 23, 2001 - Allpop's Stephanie McGrath talked to Brian who addressed concerns the group would call it a day following
the release of their greatest hits album, Chapter I. Brian says, "When artists come out with greatest hits CDs, that's
almost like you're saying, 'Well that's it, we're done, we're finished', and that's not the case either way with BSB or my
career in general, because there's so many things that we've yet to do as a group."
October 23, 2001 - "United We Stand: What More Can I Give?" raised about $2 million off of ticket sales for a crowd
of 46,000. Opening the show was BSB who sang the National Anthem as Kevin told the crowd, "We can't let them defeat us.
We have to get up, get out and live our lives every day."
Oct 21,2001- Last nights concert in CA was cancelled,so that BSB could do a Concert in NYC(which aired on VH1 last night from
7pm-12am,check VH1 listings to see when it re-airs). Theres no word yet if BSB will give fans their money back or do the CA

Aaliyah was killed in a plane crash Saturday in the Bahamas, authorities said.
The 22-year-old singer and actress,
born Aaliyah Haughton, was one of eight
people who died when the twin-engine plane they were traveling in crashed
seconds
after taking off from the Bahamas, according to Grand Bahama police
superintendent Basil Rahming.
Aaliyah was
in the Bahamas shooting a video, Minister of Tourism Tommy Turnquest
told the Associated Press.
She died instantly
when the plane, a Cessna 402B, exploded on impact just 200
feet beyond the end of a runway at Marsh Harbour International
Airport on Abaco
Island at 6:45 p.m., Rahming said. The craft, which was bound for Opa-Locka
Airport, just northwest
of Miami, apparently suffered engine failure upon
liftoff, he said.
Others killed in the accident included Aaliyah
makeup artist Eric Foreman, 29,
and Virgin Records representative Douglas Kratz, 28, according to Rahming. Two
other
women and three other men, including the pilot, died in the crash, while
one man was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital
in Miami with serious
injuries, Rahming said.
Aaliyah "was like one of my daughters, she was one of the
sweetest girls in the
world," producer Quincy Jones told the AP "I loved her and respected her and I
am
absolutely devastated."
"We find it devastating and most unfortunate that after having this world-famous
star Aaliyah and her crew select the Bahamas as their choice location for her
latest video, the project has climaxed
on such a tragic note," tourism minister
Turnquest told the news service.
